UNCOVERING YOUR REAL NATURE; FEB/MARCH 2008
Most of us identify our selves as our bodies, our personalities and our social roles. Even if we intellectually believe we are more than that, we rarely manage to live as if that were so—and are often filled with anxiety and fear. Yoga teaches that our real nature is a blissful awareness that transcends our physical form, but how do we actually experience that reality? In this class we will explore the path of self-inquiry, a method rooted in the Advaita (non-dual) tradition, to find a way back to an awareness of our true nature.
Besides learning and practicing self-inquiry meditation in depth, we will also use yoga postures and breath to become aware of our “energy body,” and we will explore the ideas of Ramana Maharshi, Jean Klein, Jnaneshvar and other figures in the non-dualist tradition. Discover how you can relax into your birthright, a simple state of profound being and presence, and be ready to face life’s challenges with equanimity.
Note: Bring a journal and pen, and wear comfortable clothing.
